The HKEF works with the HKSAR Government, the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) and the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) to support the best up-and-coming riders to compete at the highest international level and is dedicated to raising the standard of equestrian sports in Hong Kong.
The HKSI, which plays a significant role in supporting talented athletes in Hong Kong, has been allocating more resources to support elite athletes to train and compete in major games since 2007 under the government instruction. As Equestrian was awarded with Tier A status in 2019, a total of 28 riders in all three disciplines were approved as Elite Athletes in 2020 - 2021.
